Internet Researcher

This vital and fun contract role will conduct travel-related research on the web. The accuracy of the research is critical and hence requires a person with great attention-to detail. Skills include internet research, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, interest in travel, and good English-language written communication. Several positions are available. Contractors can work from home and keep flexible hours.

Responsive User Experience and User Interface (Visual) Designer

This role is vital to shaping TravelMyHeart’s products. We are looking for a contract designer who will change the game through visual and user experience design across all devices and platforms (responsive design) by focusing the design on simplicity, consistency, temptation, and fun!

The responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, user research, ability to quickly iterate on multiple design explorations to arrive at a simple, yet robust solution, accounting for complex requirements, designing for current experiences while also envisioning and creating new experiences for future features, defining the end-to-end UX strategy, user flows through to detailed user states, wireframing, prototyping, user interface specification writing, and rapid prototyping. The UX designer will also help design a solution that enables us to monitor product and feature usage and customer satisfaction and must be able to iterate quickly in an agile environment.

Front-End Engineer

We are looking for a contract front-end engineer who wants to change the travel game by building tempting experiences that evoke users’ sense of adventure and discovery. This role will collaborate with the visual user experience designer to build a responsive and performant front-end across all devices and platforms by focusing on simplicity, speed, consistency, temptation, and fun!

The required skills include HTTP, HTML5, REST, CSS3, JavaScript, JSON, XML, JQuery, AJAX, HTML DOM, Browser BOM, Session Management, Apache Tomcat, Redis and SQL Databases, GeoLocation and Geographic Information Systems, JavaScript Geographic Mapping, Image Processing, and Visual Representation libraries.

Other skills include layout, specificity, cross browser compatibility and debugging, web security, internationalization, accessibility, optimization of front-end performance, architecting efficient and reusable front-end systems and code, identifying and resolving performance and scalability issues, documenting and building unit tests for the code and collaborating with product managers, visual user experience designers and backend engineers. This role will also research third party data sources and software solutions and platforms for integration.

Knowledge of Java and Java Servlets, MySql, PostgreSQL, Image Editing Software, visual design, and patent writing, is a plus.

Back-End / Platform Engineer

This role plays a vital role in shaping TravelMyHeart’s products. We are looking for a contract back-end / platform engineer, who wants to build a unique, and highly scalable and performant software platform that matches and delivers content to end users via simple REST APIs.

The required skills and knowledge include Java, Java Servlets, Session Management, JDBC, Redis and Jedis, MySql, PostgreSQL, Geographic Information Systems and GeoCoding, REST, HTTP, JSON, XML, API usage and API development, data caching, event and message driven architectures, distributed, fault tolerant, and high-performance systems, Apache Tomcat, Ubuntu Linux, audio, video, and image encoding and decoding including software and libraries such as FFmpeg and Libav, bulk email services such as Amazon SES, log management and sysog-ng, firewalls, and load balancers.

Other skills include debugging, writing unit and integration tests, understanding of data storage and retrieval and big data stores, real time analytics, time-complexity, algorithms and data structures. This role will also research third party data sources and software solutions and platforms for integration.

Knowledge of front-end web technologies like HTML and JavaScript, Android, iOS, Hadoop / Apache Spark, and patent writing, is a plus.
